Katniss Everdeen

Main Character in The Hunger Games.

When Katniss Everdeen was 11 years old her father died in a mine explosion. Her mother went into a depressive shock. Since then Katniss has become the provider for the family. Her strong will to stay alive to take care of her mother and her little sister Prim is what motivates her everyday to break the law, go out into the woods, and illegally hunt. Her courage and will power make her an outstanding and inspiring character. When her sister's name is pulled at the reaping for her to go and compete in Hunger Games (a game with the basic. Kill or be killed plot) Katniss volunteers to take her place withouth hesitation. In the Hunger games is juggling staying alive, and being a "Star Crossed Lover from District 12" . When it is announced two people can live through and win the Hunger Games if they are from the same district she takes off looking for the other tribute from district 12 "Peeta Mellmark" . Peeta and Katniss have a connection from the past but she is determined to get past that and do whatever it takes to survive. As Katniss and Peeta win the hunger games after Katniss's defiant act which she pulled she is in major trouble but thats for another time. I dont want to give two much away. But Katniss Everdeen is a complex and riveting character. She has dark hair and dark eyes, on the contrary her mother and sister Prim have light hair and lighter colored eyes.
